Fri-yay!

The high of my week: I passed by one of the ride share electric scooters and on a whim I decided to rent it. Haha it was fun, exhilarating and scary at the same time.

The low of my week: I've not been sleeping too well this week, which led me to dozing on the sofa and missing my figure skating class - oops!

The book I am reading: Murder in an English Village

The best workout of the week: Ballet for sure - it's hard enough trying to maintain proper posture when standing still but this week we were galloping across the floor!

The best money I spent: Signing up for Ballet course 2 :)

My plans for the weekend: I'll need to do a catch-up lesson over the weekend to make up for the figure skating lesson I missed.  Other than that, no real plans yippee!

What? it's only day 2 of NaBloPoMo and I'm already dialling it in?  Nah, I'm pacing myself and welcoming back the TGIF posts :)

The high of my week: Decorating for Hallowe'en while dancing around to Monster Mash haha!

The low of my week: Tuesday's existential crisis - I'm fairly sure I'm having a mid-life crisis but the good news is that I read it only lasts 3 -5 years :/

The book I am reading: Murder in an English Village by Jessica Ellicott

The best workout of the week: Ballet - who knew standing still was such hard work?!

The best money I spent: Subway - buy one get one free AND they donate one.

My plans for the weekend: There's a fireworks display on Saturday night and the Scandinavian Christmas Market on Sunday that I plan to go to.

Yay, it's Friday! And it's sunny so I'm going to the beach this evening - life is good :)

The high of my week was having a fun time back at Choir and then catching the end of the Leafs v Red Wings game.

The low of my week was having a really low day where I was feeling totally overwhelmed.  I had to take medication and it totally spaced me out - but I did get a fantastic night sleep!

A book I'm reading is The Kitchen House by Kathleen Grissom.  Several bloggers I follow have given this book good reviews.  I've finished the first chapter and I'm hooked.

For my workouts, I completed nothing.  It's probably no coincidence that my low mood came along after not working out for a few days.  Its time to revamp my routines.

The best money I spent was on Sushi.  Kane and I had a very pleasant lunch date.

My plans this weekend include going to the farmers market (which I haven't been to in ages), going to the cinema to see Black Panther, and doing some work around the house and garden.

It's Friday!

The high of my week was getting stuff done.  I'm not entirely sure what I achieved, but I really feel like I achieved something!

The low of my week was chickening out of going to a Pilates class I haven't been to before.  Maybe next week I'll feel braver.

A book I'm reading is Mort(e) by Robert Repino

For my workouts, I completed 1 hot yoga class and 2 treadmill runs.

The best money I spent was on a Guinness at the pub quiz on Tuesday - it's been a while and really hit the spot.

My plans this weekend include the first road race of the www.runwalk.co.nz series (2.5km) and I'm still undecided whether I should go to yoga or the farmers market.  The farmers market might have mulled wine now...

Happy weekend everyone!

Woohoo I made it to Friday!

The high of my week was - it's a tie between a really great yoga class on Monday or my second 20 minute non-stop run on Tuesday.

The low of my week was not being very organised with lunches and having to buy lunch everyday.

Its hard to believe that avocado futomaki and seaweed futomaki with wasabi could ever be a low!
A book I'm reading is going to be one of the 3 books I just checked out from the library - probably Mort(e) about a sentient warrior housecat in the battle between humans and ants.

For my workouts, I completed 1 trail race, 1 treadmill run and 1 yoga class.

The best money I spent was on a birthday gift for my sister *Happy Birthday Elizabeth*

My plans this weekend include ice skating, watching ice hockey, helping take out a kitchen from the senior citizens hall, yoga, a run and hopefully season 3 of Friday Night Lights.

It's Friday!

The high of my week was watching an exciting FIFA U20 Football game between Ukraine and Senegal that went down to a penalty shootout.

The low of my week was being sick for a couple of days after the super muddy trail race on Sunday.

A book I'm reading is .. none. I just finished A Viking Moon and I'm trying to decide what to read next.

For my workouts, I completed one hot flow yoga class and one extra muddy trail race that wiped me out for the rest of the week.

The best money I spent was on a peanut and pretzel chocolate bar!

My plans this weekend include watching a rugby game, hot flow yoga, knit in public day, ice skating class, watching an ice hockey game, and choir.

Oh, thank goodness its Friday.  I have been exhausted all week!

The high of my week was taking part in my first trail race last Sunday, and finishing!  Actually maybe the best part was the free beer at the end!

The low of my week was feeling so completely wiped out that I had to cancel on going to the ice hockey game and postpone my ice skating lesson until Saturday.

A book I'm reading is Double Knit Mysteries by Maggie Sefton, and also I've just started Messenger by Lois Lowry.

For my workouts, I completed 1 trail race, Week 6 Day 1 of the C25k and some exercises that the physio gave me.

The best money I spent was on a new trail shoes.

My plans this weekend include grocery shopping, ice skating, going to the rugby, a birthday meal for my friend, and Choir.

It's Friday! And it's anniversary weekend!

The high of my week was receiving my Dala horse in the mail - I've been wanting one of these for a very long time.  And I got discharged from physio - whiplash injury all better yay :D

The low of my week was feeling tired most mornings.  Not really much of a low so I think it's been a good week.  I am looking forward to having a nice long sleep in tomorrow though.

Something on the internet I loved was this post by Kyla Roma >> how-to-credit-images-on-a-blog.  I have now learned how I should properly use and credit images on my blog.

For my workouts, I completed a mile day and I hurt.  I really felt like giving up yesterday but I dragged my arse out and ended up doing one of my fastest paces ever!

The best money I spent was on a delicious filled pretzel from Popa's Pretzels and having a catch up with a friend for lunch.

My plans this weekend include going on a bike ride with Kane, attending a friends Bon Voyage party, catching up on some sleep and reading.

Five on Friday

Wow, what a crazy, full week it has been!  Here are the highlights:

One: My poor husband has been through the wringer this week but I'm so impressed with how he has handled himself.  He's an undemanding and easy going person who quietly works very hard and therefore if anyone deserves good things, it's definitely him and I'm very pleased that he has had some good news this week.

Two: As if there wasn't enough stress in our lives this week, we both had to do some public speaking (!!) but we survived and had great fun at our Lions Club Scottish Night.

Three: I ran a 6k race and was consistent with my times of late, but I have started to do the couch to 10k program again from the start since I only made it half way through before taking several weeks off due to injury.  I've done week 1 and I'm doing it in the mornings now since it's too hot in the evenings.

Four: We've been learning some fun and challenging things at ice skating and the past 2 lessons we've been trying to do mohawks which is where you glide forward on one foot and then switch to gliding backwards on the other foot - it looks so easy but so hard to do in practice!

Five: I just love the library system.  I love that I can order books online and choose which library I want to pick them up and then I can drop them off at any library I'm near.  It's such a good system.  Through the library website I found some recommendations for books so I have created a reading list Pinterest board so that I don't forget what I want read!

Five on Friday

Yay Friday is here again :)

Here my top 5 this week:

One: Christmas! I'm really starting to feel more in the Christmas mood since I'm almost done with the Christmas shopping.  I'm going to wrap things this weekend and write out cards and listen to some Christmas music - I can't wait!

Two: I got to catch up on some Toronto Maple Leafs games and they've won the last few games yay! #GoLeafsGo! and also it looks like my cat is a hockey fan too :) He was pretty engrossed watching the players and puck zip across the screen - too cute!

Three: I got some books out from the library by Lindwood Barclay and have started reading one of them and I'm enjoying it.  It's called "Never Saw It Coming" and I'm only a few chapters in but hooked on the story.

Four: Last Friday night I got to pick up my new glasses which are purple and look awesome, and I got a free second pair so I chose a black frame.  I'm really happy with them.  I had to get some sort of dilation thing done to my eyes which made my pupils looks massive with only a thin ring of colour around them - I looked like the cats when they are playing with their toys.

Five: I got my weight taken on Tuesday and I'm making good steady progress towards my goal.  I'm making small easy changes that are yielding the results I want to see and because everything is so incremental I feel that they are ingrained and has just become my new way of life.  I've still got a long way to go but I'm already a quarter of the way there.

Five on Friday

Happy Friday!  Here are my top 5 things this week.

One:  I ran a quarter marathon!  I'm so happy about this.  I tore a muscle in my calf a few weeks back but I went to the Osteo clinic at Unitec as soon as I could and Naomi was able to work some magic on me to get me to the start line of the quarter.  Not only did I manage to finish, I was pretty close to the time I expected to run before the muscle tear.  I have a few other niggles and pains now but I'm confident that between Naomi and the exercises she gives me I will be a well oiled machine in no time!

Two:  Seven weeks 'til Christmas - eep!  I still can't quite get used to a summer Christmas and it's so easy for me to forget all about it until December.  Back in the old country I would have finished my Christmas shopping in September and that's what I should be doing again if I want things to arrive on time.  I'm going into full Christmas planning mode this weekend!

Three:  My husband is the love of my life and I'm so proud of him right now.  He has a very full plate and he's working so hard but I never see any of his current stressors get to him.  He is my inspiration.

Four: My mum's 70th birthday is next week and I have sent her a nice gift that I hope she likes.  I really like it and I'm considering getting the same thing for myself!

Five:  My nephew and his fiancée had a son.  I'm so happy for them as I think it's something that they've wanted for a little while.  And it's very fitting that the first boy in the family has had the first boy :)
